that reaction is called esterification reaction in which ethanoic acid reacts with ethanol it will result in the formation of esters which are sweet smelling compounds...
C2H5OH + CH3COOH -------> CH3 COOC2H5
ETHANOL ETHANOICACID. ESTER

Alcohols react with carboxylic acids in presence of conc. sulphuric acid to form esters.

CH3COOH + C2H5 -------> CH3COOHC2H5 + H2O
in presence of conc. H2SO4
