It is also called octet rule or duplet rule. octet rule is the tedency of an element with two or more shells , to attain 8 electrons in its valenced shell by losing ,gaining , or sharing of electrons.Wherease duplet rule is tedency of an element with single shell to attain 2 electron in its K shell .
