Explain the reason for gandhi to take back non cooperation

Reasons why Gandhi ji call off non cooperation movement are :-
1. After the chauri chaura incident, Gandhi ji was convinced that Indian masses were not ready for a great upheaval to over through the Britishers at once. It was evident that the movement could be easily suppressed using violence as an excuse.

2. Practically the movement would not have been able to sustain itself for long and masses would have dispersed.

3. Government ( Britishers ) seemed in no mood to negotiate as talks between Reading and Gandhiji had broken down. It was followed by the arrest of many leaders but not Gandhiji.
