HEY DEAR _____>

< HERE IS YOUR YOUR ANSWER ___>

:- For understanding the production of heat because of flow of current in a conductor, first of all think what does current means? So, current is basically flow of electrons opposite to the direction of applied Electric Field.  So when a conductor is kept as such without connecting it to any voltage source then also the movement of electrons exists but that movement is random and hence there is no bet flow of electrons across any assumed cross section. But when you connect a conductor to a voltage source, an Electric Field is set up and now electrons drifts in the direction opposite to the direction of Electric Filed. So to make the motion of electron toward a specific direction, you need to do work on them, which gets converted into Heat.

In another way, as electrons move through the conductor, it collides with may molecules and ions and because of this collision, heat is generated. Hope it help you.
