Redressal Mechanism to address the problems of consumers Under the Consumer Protection Act ,1986  :  

DISTRICT FORUM :  

Each district forum consists of a President and two other members , one of whom should be women.  

The complaint is filed where the value of goods and services along with the amount of compensation does not exceed ₹ 20 lakhs. The complaint is  referred to the accused party to defend the case. The court passes the order on the basis of facts and laboratory report, if required. If a party is not satisfied with its decision, the aggrieved party can approach to state commission within 30 days of the passing of the order.

 

STATE COMMISSION :  

It consists of a President and not less than two other members , one of whom should be woman.  

The complaint is filed where the value of goods and services along with the amount of compensation exceeds ₹ 20 lakhs but does not exceed ₹ 1 crore . The complaint is  referred to the accused party to defend the case. The court passes the order on the basis of facts and laboratory report, if required. If a party is not satisfied with its decision, the aggrieved party can approach to national commission within 30 days of the passing of the order.

 

NATIONAL COMMISSION :  

It consists of a President and at least for other members , one of whom should be woman.  

The complaint is filed where the value of goods and services along with the amount of compensation exceeds ₹ 1 crore. The complaint is  referred to the accused party to defend the case. The court passes the order on the basis of facts and laboratory report, if required. If a party is not satisfied with its decision, the aggrieved party can approach to Supreme Court within 30 days of the passing of the order.
