In an exam 80% boys passed in english paper and 85% boys passed in maths paper and 75% boys passed in both subjects, if 45 boys have failed in both subjects,then find the total numbers of students appears in exam? Solve this in with full solution

Answer:

Let the total number of boys be x

it is given that 75% boys passed in both exam and 45 boys have failed in both the exam

so,

⇒          x - (75% of x)  = 45

⇒             x - 75x/100  = 45

⇒    ( 100x - 75x)/100  = 45

⇒                  25x/100  = 45

⇒                           x/4  = 45

⇒                            x    = 45 × 4

⇒                            x    = 180

Thus, the total number of students appeared in exam were 180 boys.
