hello!
in meiosis from the diploid germ mother cell haploid germ cells are produced which acts as the unit of sexual reproduction. As a result of this union a diploid zygote is formed which by repeated mitotic cleavage forms a new offspring. Thus they are interrelated.

In mitosis, one diploid parent cell will divide to form 2diploid daughter cell. This process takes place in somatic cell.
In meiosis cell division, 1 diploid cell will form 4 haploid cells that is, it is a reductional division. Meiosis takes place in specialized gametes. After the fusion of gametes, 2n no. Of chromosomes gets restored.
