★ RISE OF NAPOLEON
------------------------------------

(1) FRENCH REVOLUTION
-----------------------------------------

The causes for the rise of Napoleon lies in the French Revolution itself. As happens in a revolution, there was political and economic turmoil and a struggle for power. These factors facilitated Napolean's rise to power.

(2) POLITICAL INSTABILITY
------------------------------------------

After the fall of the Jacobin government, a new constitution was introduced. It provided for two legislative councils and a Directory. However, the directors often clashed with the legislative council and this lead to political instability. Napoleon took advantage of the situation and became a dictator.

(3) GLORIOUS VICTORIES OF NAPOLEAN
--------------------------------------------------------------

Napoleon was a great general and used his armies to conquer large parts of Europe. Many saw Napoleon as a liberator who would bring freedom to the people.

(4) TRUST ON NAPOLEON
-------------------------------------------

As Napoleon was a product of the revolution, his powers were a guarantee that aristocratic privileges won't be restored and people can live better lives.

These factors led to the rise of Napileon.
