Answer:

This equilibrium state determines the functioning of the ecosystem and it is maintained when there is a balance in the cycling elements. Human activities like deforestration and burning of fossil fuels have changed the biogeochemical processes, directly or indirectly which has affected the earth's climate.

Explanation:

A Bio-geo-chemical cycle is a pathway in which the chemical substances and nutrients like carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, calcium, nitrogen, and water, move through the biotic and abiotic components of the Earth in a cycle. It tells us about the biological, geological, and chemical factors.

All these biogeochemical cycles are driven by microbes (anaerobic and aerobic processes) and are linked, so that the community can have an equilibrium state. This equilibrium state determines the functioning of the ecosystem and it is maintained when there is a balance in the cycling elements.

Human activities like deforestration and burning of fossil fuels have changed the biogeochemical processes, directly or indirectly which has affected the earth’s climate.

A few steps taken by humans can help in maintaining the biogeochemical equilibrium in the ecosystem.

1.    Avoid using phosphorus fertilizers and nitrogen fertilizers.

2.    Avoid deforestration, and clearing of vegetation to increase the carbon sinks and decrease the atmospheric CO2 concentration.

3.    Prevention of acid rains, burning of coal and livestock ranching.

4.    Reduce vehicular pollution.

5.    Overall reduction in pollution.
