The role of horticulture in India:

  • Almost half of the economic contribution to the discipline of agriculture comes through horticulture.
  • The horticultural produce in India has a great demand from all over the world.
  • It thus fosters import and helps farmers earn more than what they earn from conventional farming of rice, wheat, maize, barley, and sugarcane.
  • The Indian agriculture sector is believed to have a great future as the horticulture farming in the country is being preferred by the farmers over conventional farming.
