The plant has several macro-nutrients like potassium, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and calcium. Macro-nutrients play a pivotal role in growth and development of a plant. Different macro-nutrients assist in different metabolic processes. They increase the quality of the crops. Phosphorus is also a part of phospholipids, substances that make up the cell membrane. Similarly, nitrogen is also a component of amino acids and also chlorophyll, the pigment that lends plants' leaves there familiar green colour.
