Role of NCC in disaster management:

"NCC cadets are not being trained to assist in situations like flood. But they will certainly help in disaster management," Vashisht told reporters in response to a query. ... "The NCC plays a vital role in character building, discipline, leadership qualities, national integrity and patriotism among the students," he said.

Role of NSS in disaster management:

If all the NCC cadets and all NSS volunteers are trained in disaster management (includes prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and rehabilitation) then we will have a handy energetic workforce spread across the country to help the government in responding to disasters.
