There are many things which Veer Savarkar improved the situation our nation.  

Part of it is his part in freedom fight. Gives start a chance to directly from his youth.  

When he was too youthful (near about 12 years) he choose to take part in freedom fight.  

Then he start make union of freinds called as "Mitra Mela", first in Nashik and then in Pune (Ferguson collage). He inspired many individuals against British.  

During this he make an occasion to create patriotism in Indians on large scale named as "Videshi Kapadon Ki Holi" (for example Consume all the materials which are manufactured in Briton).  

Then by the discussing with Lokmanya Tilak, Veer Savarkar choose to travel to the London, and give a turning point to Indian governmental issues. Make it International legislative issues.  

There he did many things like inspiring Madanlaal Dhingra, writing a few books like "1857-freedom fight of India", celibrating 50th anniversary of freedom fight of 1857 in Bharat Bhavan (India House, it was renamed by Veer Savarkar)  

He also provided weapons, bombs and manufacturing process of bombs.  

One of that weapon was utilized in assassination of curzon wyllie by Anant Kanhere. So Veer Savarkar was arrested by British Government in Briton.
