Large scale participation of women was an important feature of the Civil Disobedience Movement. During the Salt March, thousands of women came out of their homes to listen to the speeches of Gandhi. women participated in protest marches, manufactured salt, and picketed foreign cloth and liquor shops. Many went to jail

the role of women in the civil disobedience movement are :-

1). The freedom struggle witnessed active participation of people from different sections of the Indian society.

2). We  then saw active women participating in huge numbers, during the civil disobedience movement, 

3). Women participated in protest marches, in processions.

4). It was for the first time that women in large numbers became active participants and stepped out of their house.

5). The issue of salt law had affected everybody and more so the women who were looking after the households.They thought it was their sacred duty to serve the nation.

6). Thus they actively participated in defying salt laws, in protest marches, in picketing up shops selling foreign cloth, liquor.

7). It did change the course and nature of national movement.

8). We may give example of Sarojini Naidu, Kasturba Gandhi, Kalpana Dutta who was a revolutionary, Kanaklatha Baruah etc who were active participants of national movement.
