Answer:
The quantum mechanical model of an atom is based on the quantum theory, which states that matter also has properties associated with waves. According to quantum theory, it’s impossible to determine the exact position and momentum of an electron at the same time which is known as the Uncertainty Principle.
The quantum mechanical model states that the probability of electrons is highest in the orbitals that are the volumes of space also called as orbiatls. So, this model is based on probability rather than certainty.

Answer :
Features of Quantum Mechanical Model Atom-
- The electrons have quantised values of energy.
- These values can be obtained by Schrödinger wave equation. The wave function can also be obtained by this equation.
- Ψ has no physical significance, but Ψ² helps in finding the probability of finding electron at a point.
- The wave function Ψ is also called orbital wave function or atomic orbital.
- By finding the square of wave function, we can predict the region of space around the nucleus within which the probability of finding electrons with a definite energy.
- Space around nucleus is said to be orbital.
- There are many Atomic orbitals.
- An electron can have many wave functions.
- The wave function contains a the information of an electron.
