➡The Civil Disobedience Movement was started in 1930 with the famous Salt Satyagraha of Mahatma Gandhi also known as Dandi March that was launched on 12 March 1930
➡On that day, Gandhiji with some of his followers left the Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmedabad and made their way towards Dandi, a village on the west coast of India
➡After travelling for 25 days and covering a distance of 385km, they reached Dandi on 6 April 1930.
➡Here, Gandhiji protested against the Salt Law by making salt himself and throwing up a challenge to the British government
➡The movement spread and salt laws were challenged in other parts of the country

THE KEY POINTS OF DANDI SALT MARCH IS MENTION BELOW :-
- Mahatma Gandhi has written a letter to lord Irwin by stating eleven demands. Some are generic whereas some are specific.
- Abolition of tax on salt was one of them. Salt is an important commodity which is consumed by both rich and poor.
- When Irwin denied to abolish the salt law, Gandhiji began a famous salt march from 12 Mar 1930 to 6 Apr 1930.
- Gandhiji Started that march with 78 trusted volunteers from Savarmati Ashram to the coastal areas of Dandi.
- Gandhiji talked about swarajya with people wherever he stopped covering 25 days with 385km. Finally he reached Dandi and violated the salt law.
- He violated the salt law by boiling the sea-water which marked the beginning of CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT.
- After this incident many people violated salt law by manufacturing sea salt in front of government factories. People now began to break colonial laws.
