Its advantage is that it can be used to generate electricity with the same equipment or power plants that are now burning fossil fuels. Biomass is animportant source of energy and the most important fuel worldwide after coal, oil and natural gas. Traditional use ofbiomass is more than its use in modern application.

Biomass Energy !!

The Mass containing biomolecules is called Biomass.

The Biomass may be living or dead.

The living material, Their waste products and dead parts is called Biomass.

The energy obtained from biomass is called bioenergy.

When Solar radiations falls on green plants, the energy of solar radiation is used in the process of photosynthesis to produce biomolecules.

In the process of photosynthesis the energy of solar radiation is converted into chemical energy of biomolecules.

Therefore chemical energy stored in biomass is an indirect form of solar energy.
