Explain the significance of peristaltic movement that occur all along the gut during digestion.

Let us first look what is peristaltic movement.
This will make us clear that what is its significant tho.

Peristaltic movement is movement caused by contraction and repulsion of muscles in the food pipe and in the stomach.
The food also goes out through the anus with this movement. 

Now, Significance :-
->  It helps the food to move in the alimentary canal.
->  The food reaches the different part of the body due to peristaltic movement.
-> It helps in timely removal of bowels.
-> If this movement is slow, then it can cause constipation.
