The similarity and difference in between Sodium Hydroxide added to water and Calcium oxide added to water are ⇒

Reactions :-

1) When Sodium Hydroxide (or NaOH) is added to Water ⇒
_____________________________________

NaOH + H₂O ----→ Na⁺ + OH⁻ + H₂O + Heat

_____________________________________

This reaction is an example of the Exothermic reaction because heat is produce in it.

2) When Calcium oxide (CaO) added to water ⇒

________________________________
 CaO + H₂O ------→ Ca(OH)₂ + Heat
________________________________
This reaction is also an exothermic reaction because lots of heat produce in it .

Explanation -:
A) SIMILARITY B/W THESE TWO REACTION
i) Both reactions are Highly Exothermic , As Heat released in both of them.
ii) Both reaction formed Strong Alkali solution.

B) DIFFERENCE B/W THESE TWO REACTIONS

i) Sodium Hydroxide Dissociates to form Na⁺ and OH⁻ ion . While Calcium oxide added water to form Calcium Hydroxide which further dissociates.
ii)  NaOH is a monoacidic base. and CaO is a Di-Acidic base.

Hope it helps.
