Computers were originally designed around a brain model, and at one time were called electronic brains. Since then there has been some discussion as to whether they resemble brains or not. Today we have more information about how the brain works than ever before

is my belief that the computer model fails at the elementary memory level, where it assumes that discrete place-coded memory is the basis of the memory system of the brain. As far as I know Fodor's objection to this in his book

"The Mind doesn't work that way! [2002] still stands today. As far as we can tell and with the best neural networks designed to simulate the working of the brain, there is no way to implement discrete place-coded memory in a neural network.
