Explanation:

When salt is sprinkled over watermelon, the water concentration inside the watermelon is more than the water concentration outside the watermelon. According to the principal of Osmosis, water moves from an area of higher water concentration to that of lower water concentration. So, water moves out of the watermelon and it thus loses water. Loss of water causes the watermelon to reduce in size and it shrinks.
