Differences:
Sri Lankan government adopted majoritarian rules. It ignored the interests of the minority community(tamils) and thus there wasnt equality in the country. Whereas Belgium took a different turn. It sought to promote equality in the country. There was equal representaion of both the communities.
Outcomes:
As a result in Sri Lanka the Tamils formed political associaltions and started demanding for equal political rights, regional autonomy, seperate tamil eelam(state) etc. there were conflicts between the two linguistic communities which finally led to civil war in the country.Members of both linguistic groups were killed.
In Belgium there werent any conflicts.People have been living peacefully since then. There is equality as well as unity in the country.
Lessons learnt:
The belgium model of government is a model to behold. Unity lies in equality. So there should be equal rights for all in the country and no person belonging to the minority should be denied equal rights. We should prevent oppression of the minority by the majority. From the srilankan example we came to know how it led to civil war in the country. There wasnt unity in the country. That is why everyone should have equal political
