Sociology is the study of mankind and human nature. The subject matter of Sociology is:

Sociology is mainly concerned with sociological analysis or providing analysis of human society and culture with a sociological perspective.

It has given sufficient attention to the primary unit of social life and is also concerned with the development, structure and functions of wide variety of basic social institutions.

Sociology has placed high premium on the method of research also and has many specialised studies such as sociology of law, sociology of medicine, etc.
