BHABAR It is a narrow belt of about 8 to 16km in width lying parallel to the slope of Shiwaliks. TERAI South of bhabar belt, streams amd rivers re-emerge and form a wet, swampy and marshy region called terai. BHANGAR The largest part of the northen plain is formes of older alluvium. They lie above the flood plains of rivers and present a terrace like feature. This part is known as bhangar. KHADAR The newer, younger deposit of the flood plains are called khadar.
