Chimeric DNA is a hybrid DNAmolecule produced by the process of recombination, in which ligation ofDNA segments taken from different sources is been done. Translation and transcription process of this chimeric DNA forms chimeric protein.

Explanation:

Chimeric DNA is another name for Recombinant DNA, which is basically a synthetic DNA section made after extracting and cleaving various DNA portions from their respective origins using different enzymes such as Resriction Endonucleases, DNA Ligase, etc.

Recombinant DNA molecules are called the chimeric DNA because, like the mythical chimera, they can be made of material from two different species. R-DNA technology uses palindromic sequences, leading to sticky and blunt ends being formed.
