DEFINITION -

eutrophication is the process by which the amount of algae increases in the water bodies

CAUSE DUE TO

fertilizers and insecticides that are drained into the waterbodies from the soil due to surface runoff.

CONSEQUENCES -

1) this leads to decrease in oxygen content in the water bodies .

2) sunlight penetration in the waterbodies minimizes

3) affects the marine life leading to death of fishes and aquatic animals
