1. Watan (Arabic: وطن) or Al-Watan with the definite article al- (Arabic: الوطن), meaning homeland, heimat, country, or nation.

2. Abhang or abhanga is a form of devotional poetry sung in praise of the Hindu god Vitthal, also known as Vithoba. The word "abhang" comes from a for "non-" and bhang for "ending" or "interrupting", in other words, a flawless, continuous process, in this case referring to a poem.

3. The Dnyaneshwari (Marathi: ज्ञानेश्वरी) (IAST: Jñānēśvarī), also referred to as Jnanesvari, Jnaneshwari or Bhavartha Deepika is a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita written by the Marathi saint and poet Dnyaneshwar in 1290 CE.

4. Vatandar (or Watandar) is an Indian term meaning "landholder". The title was given to landowners, particularly in Maharashtra. The vatandar generally owned a plot of land or vatan/watan worked by the local people, who were dependent on the vatandar for their subsistence.

5. In the 16th Century, Maharashtra poet Eknath wrote his poetic version of Sri Ramayana. Known as the Bhavartha Ramayana, it was not the first Marathi version. Reference is also found of a Marathi Ramayana produced during the 12th or 13th Century.
