Stunting : Stunting, refers to low height which takes place due to inadequate intake of nutrient in long-term and frequent infections. It takes place before ones attain the age of 2 . The effects of stunting is largely irreversible.
Low birth weight baby: It s a term which is used for babies who are born having a weight of less than 2,500 grams. An average newborn should usually weighs around about 3500 grams. This happens when the baby is born prematurely(premature birth before 37 weeks). Another reason being to the condition called intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). This happens when a baby does not grow nicely at the time of pregnancy.
Intellectual developmental disability(IDD) : It is a severe, chronic conditions which takes place due to physical and mental impairments.
IDD also means iodine deficiency disorder which takes places due to iodine deficiency in the soil . This leads to low quantum of iodine content in the food which it derives . Consumption of such food leads to iodine deficiency in our body.
Wasting: Wasting refers to low weight for height which indicates mortality among children who are below 5 years. This happens due to acute shortage of food and disease.
Double burden of malnutrition: The double burden of malnutrition occurs when the dual burden of under- and overnutrition occurring simultaneously within a population
Marasmus: It is a condition which occurs due to acute malnutrition characterized by deficiency of energy . It is found mostly in children which increases before the age of 1 but can also be found in someone suffering from severe malnutrition . The body weight in such condition goes down by less than 62% of the normal weight of the age .
Kwashiorkor: It is also referred as “edematous malnutrition” as it is because linked with edema (fluid retention).It is a nutritional disorder which occurs due to lack of protein in the food. It is usually seen in places which is under the influence of famine.
Community: It refers to a group of people with a common features or interest. They live together within a particular area. It also refers to a body of persons having common professional interests who remain scattered in a society.
