the tripartite struggle was fought by three states for a fertile land Kannauj lies on the coastal plains by rashtrakuta, gurjara pratiharas, Palas . the struggle was fought for the control on the northern plains of India in ninth century because it was the most fertile land and became very beneficial for them. but after sometime the three Empire lost the the fight against each other and in the last the successor of nagabhata II successfully attacked Kannauj and established his Kingdom there
