PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
The food stored by the food cooperation of india is then redistributed by the PDS to the poore sections of the society.

a) buffer stock - it is the stock of foodgrains namely wheat and rice produced by the Government through FCI .

b) public distribution system : the food procured by the FCI is distributed through Government regulated ration shops among the poorer section of the society.
