A Revolution.
Earth spins around its axis, just as a top spins around its spindle. This spinning movement is called Earth's ‘Rotation’. At the same time that the Earth spins on its axis, it also orbits, or revolves around the Sun. This movement is called ‘Revolution’.

The Earth is rotating but not around the Sun, it is rotating (or spinning) around its north/south axis. It is also revolving (or orbiting) around the Sun. Each rotation is one day and each revolution is one year. Rotation and revolution are different motions. If I spin around on my toes on one foot that is a rotation. But I can walk around in a circle which would be one revolution. By the way the orbit of the Earth around the Sun is pretty much circular but it is squished in a tad making the perfect circle into an oval called an ellipse. hope you understand
