Hey dear,
● Chemical reaction -
- A chemical reaction is a process that leads to the chemical transformation of one set of chemical substances to another.
- There are 4 main types - combination, decomposition, displacement and precipitation.
1) Combination -
- Two or more compounds combine to form 1 compound.
- For example, formation of water,
2H2 + O2 ---> 2H2O
2) Decomposition -
- A complex molecule breaks down to make simple ones.
- For example, electrolysis of water,
2H2O ---> 2H2 + O2
3) Displacement -
- One element trades place with another element in a compound.
- For example, Zinc replaces copper from cuprous oxide,
Zn + CuO ---> Cu + ZnO
4) Precipitation -
- Two solutions of soluble salts are mixed resulting in precipitation of inslouble solid.
- For example, NaOH and HCl forms common salt,
NaOH + HCl ---> NaCl + H2O
Hope this helps...
