"Depending on the environment in which the animals live in, they exhibit different types of movement.

Aquatic life:

Animals who are part of an aquatic environment either exhibit passive movement (Example: Jellyfish) or they swim using various body parts (Example: Carp).

Terrestrial life:

The most common forms of locomotion seen on land are bipedalism (Example: Man) and quadrupedalism (Example: Dogs). Apart from these, other movements such as hopping (Example: Kangaroos), crawling (Example: Cockroaches), peristaltic movement (Example: Earthworm), serpentine and concertina movement (Example: Snake) are also seen.
