There are main four types of chemical reactions. They are :-
1. Combination Reaction :
A reaction in which a single product is formed from 2 or more reactants is called as combination reaction.
Example :
- CaO + H20 ➔Ca(OH)2

2. Decomposition Reaction :
When a compound or an element breaks down into simple molecular substances from which it is made is known as decomposition reaction.
Example :
- CaCO3 ➔CaO + CO2 ( in presence of heat)
★ It is further of 3 types :
- Thermal decomposition
- Electrolytic decomposition
- Photolytic decomposition

3. Displacement Reaction :
When a highly or strong reactive metal displaces a low reactive metal it is said to be displacement reaction.
Example :
- Zn + CuSO4 ➔ ZnSO4 + Cu

4. Double Displacement Reaction (optional) :
A type of chemical reaction where two compounds react, and the positive ions and the negative ions of the two reactants displaces or switches, forming two new compounds or products.
Example :
- Na2SO4 + BaCl2 ➔ BaSO4 + 2NaCl
