Structurally each plastid consist of two parts
1. Limiting membrane and
2. Stroma.

Limiting membrane: this is double membrane and each membrane is trilaminar lipoprotenious and lacks chlorophyll and cytochromes. all molecular interchanges occur between the cytoplasm and chloroplast through this limiting membrane.

Stroma: plastids are filled with water protenious substance called matrix or stroma it contains 50% of the chloroplast proteins and most of are of soluble types.
