Isotopes are nuclides with the same atomic number but different mass numbers . The spontaneous degradation of nucleus & transmission of one element to another with consequent emission of rays ( or ) particles is known as radioactivity .

Autoradiography creates an image of a radioactive source by the direct exposure of imaging media ; the sample and the medium must be in fairly close proximity to one another. Traditional autoradiography used film emulsions, silver halide film being the most common.
