Basic agricultural practices are as follows:-

1) Preparation of soil :- It includes preparing the soil for planting the seeds. It basically involves two processes tilling and levelling.

2) Selection of good quality seeds:- It involve selecting the seeds which will give good yield.

3) Sowing of seeds :- The process by which seeds are sowed in ground is known as sowing . It is done manually or with the help of seed drills.

4) Adding manures and fertilizers :- The process of adding and mixing manures and fertilizers in the soil is known as manuring.

5) Irrigation :- The artificial method of watering the plants is known as irrigation.

6) Removal of weeds and pests :- The process of removing the unwanted plants from the field is known as weeding. Weeding can be done manually or with the help of weedicides. Pests can be controlled by pesticides or by employing harmless animals to destroy them.

7) Harvesting :- The process of cutting and gathering the matured crop is known as harvesting.

8) Storage of food grains :- Food grains are either stored in gunny bags or metallic bins known as silos. The grains should be properly dried before storage.
