Varma system in earlier times was based on work unlike today's system.
The Varna system was like this from upper to lower -
• Brahmanas - People who used to follow brahmcharya and preach dharma were considered the best.
• Kshtriyas - People who used to fight in wars and wear weapons. They were respected very much in the society after Brahmans.
• Vaishya - People who used to keep in check the accounts of Kingdom and other people's.
• Shudra - People who don't came under above three categories, were classified as Shudra. Their duty was to serve there upper casts.
