hey friend,
first glucose is broken to pyruvic acid or pyruvate in cytoplasm in absence of air.
now two conditions where it is broken down to other substances in the absence of oxygen.
in muscle cells.
pyruvate-----> lactic acid + energy
where lactic acid is 3 carbon molecule
in yeast
pyruvate----> CH3CH2OH + CO2 + H2O + energy
where CH3CH2OH is ethanol {2 carbon molecule}
hope you like my answer :)
