Explain the words `das volk` and `volksgeist`.

Das Volk refers to the common people of the society or region who considered as representatives of a traditional way of life and initiators  of customs, beliefs,etc. 
​Volgeist is a German word which literally means the inner soul or the character of the nation as a whole.

'Das Volk' is a German word or phrase which means 'The People.' It simply refers to the folk or group of people of a society or people of a nation. Das Volk was also a daily newspaper of Germany.

`Volksgeist` is also a German phrase which means 'Nationalism or National spirit.' The term depicts the unique spirit and character of the people of a nation.
