The nationalist tensions emerged in the Balkans due to the following reason
- Balkans was a reign of geohraphical and ethnic variation comprising modern day Romania , Bulgaria Albania ,Greece ,craotia , Macedonia ,Bosnia Herzegovina ,Solvenia ,Servia and Montenegro which inhabitants were known as slaves .
A large part of Balkans was under the control of Ottoman Empire .
-After the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the growth of romantic nationalism in the Balkans ,the region become very explosive . its European subject nationalist broke away from his control and declared independence .
- As the different nationalities struggle to defined thier identity and independence ,the Balkans area became an area of intense conflict .The Balkans state were fiercely jealous were each other and each hoped to gain more territory in the expense to others .
- Balkans also became the scene of big power rivalry . Russia, Germany, english , Hungary, Australia - all big powers were keen in countering the hold of other powers . This ultimately turned Balkans into a war region which eventually provided a minor cause for the first world war .
