The very word romanticism is attached to the idea of love, and the adventure. This style however encountered a resurrection at the end of the 18th century, with gothic fantasy, which began in 1746 with English novelist Horace Walpole's The Castle of Otranto, "A Gothic Story".

The writers of this new type of romance were accused of abusing all possible issues to excitement, arouse, or terrify their readers. These unusual romantic writers, though, professed that they were investigating the complete domain of fictionality.

The psychical scholars, in the early 19th century, studied these works as confrontations with the broader invisible revelation of the human intelligence. These works depict the theme of gender, anxieties, and unsatisfied ambitions. these writers emphasize on importance on the creativity as an assertive and artistic faculty

Under such interpretations, novels were defined as investigating deeper individual goals, and it was recommended that such creative liberty would explain what had not before been generally noticeable.

The names of some novels are;

William Wordsworth – Lyrical Ballads

William Blake– The Marriage of Heaven and Hell
