The narrator had learned a lot about the boys . When they came back from Poleta he did not speak to the boys as he thought that they would like to keep their secret.He did not let them realize that he knew everything and was very much impressed by their devotion and had himself realized that their enthusiasm was not broken by the war. Their selfless deed had brought honour and nobility to the human life , hence giving hope to the society
