The main reasons for the low literacy rates of women are:
1.Poverty
2.Ignoring the girl child
3.Poor mentality of some paople.
These all lead to the conclusion that POVERTY , IGNORANCE and POOR MENTALITY OF SOME PEOPLE are the roots that lead to the low literacy rates in india..Poor families donot send their child to school as they lack money and think that the girls has to go with her husband waht she need to study. .. During the birth female child is killed without coming her in this world, if she comes in this world she is mentally tourchered and given poor nutrition that lead to the poor mental development.
