In this type of election the adults of the country directly elect their representatives to the lok Sabha.The members of the parliament and the State assemblies are elected by this method.

When a candidate dies during his resign, a by election is held to fill that seat.

3.Midterm Election :-

When the lok Sabha or the state assembly , is dissolved before completetion of the full term of five years,mid term elections are held to form a new government.
