Economic restructuring describes the need to move from primary sector jobs to more tertiary sector, mainly due to global shift in industry or the increased rural-urban migration
-Many cities in UK/USA have experienced deindustrilisation (e,g, Middlesborough + Detroit) leading to loss of jobs, spiral of decline, negative multiplier effect, population loss etc.
- This then leads to a place having a poor image/reputation and can cause crime levels and homelessness to rise, making the area worse and even less attractive and so no new businesses set up there again/people move away
- This shows that although economic restructuring is root cause of need for regeneration, it is then excacerbated by these other factors (such as no businesses/migration)
