Vegetative propagation is a type of asexual reproduction in which a new plant develops from roots, stems or leaves of the plant.
Vegetative propagation in bryophyllum : Adventitious buds produced in the notches along the leaf margin of bryophyllum fall on the soil and develop into a new individual.
Advantages :
1) It bears fruits and flowers comparitively faster than those produced from seeds.
2) Such methods have made possible the reproduction of plants such as banana, rose, jasmine etc. that has lost its capacity to produce seeds.
Vegetative propagation is the production of new plants from the vegetative parts of the plant. Roots, stems and leaves are called the vegetative parts of a plant. Vegetative propagation takes place by different methods like Grafting, Leaf propagation, Root propagation, underground stem propagation etc.
Advantages:
(i) Bear flowers and fruits earlier than those produced from seeds.
(ii) Plants without seeds can also reproduce.
(iii) Genetically similar to the parent plant.
