Explain what happens when a drop of concentrated sugar solution is placed on rheo l leaf peel
mounted on a glass slide. Name this phenonomenon. Would the same happen if the rheo leaf
was boiled before mounting? Give reason for your answer.

the rheo leaf will shink due to osmosis due to hypertonic solution. If rheo leaf is first boiling its plastids will die and the same phenomenon would ocurr.

The concentrated sugar solution would act as a hypertonic solution and the rheo leaf will loose water by osmosis & the leaf will shrink This is known as Plasmolysis. When you boil the rheo leaf the cells would die and no Plasmolysis will occur.
