Blood coagulation:
Coagulation is the process by which blood changes from a liquid to a gel, forming a blood clot. This process is also known as clotting of blood. Blood platelets coagulate blood to seal a wound. It potentially results in haemostasis, the cessation of blood loss from a damaged vessel, followed by repair. Coagulation begins almost instantly after an injury to the blood vessel has damaged the endothelium lining the vessel. Defects in coagulation may cause haemorrhage or thrombosis or both. There are many coagulation factors from which the mains are fibrinogen, prothrombin, thromboplastin tissue, calcium.

Other examples of coagulation include:
1) Milk proteins coagulate to thicken the mixture that forms yogurt.
2) Pectin gels coagulates a jam.
3) Gravy coagulates as it cools.
