Plasma meaning 'moldable substance' is one of the four fundamental states of matter, and was first described in the 1920s. Plasma can be artificially generated by heating a neutral gas to a strong electromagnetic field the point where an ionised gaseous substance becomes increasingly electrically conductive  and long-range electromagnetic fields dominate the behaviour of the matter.

Answer:

Plasma is one type of matter.

It's the next stage of gas.

When gas is heated at particular temperatures, then it becomes plasma.
